Processing problems

Then he added, “Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given—and you will receive even more. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. Mark 4:24

Sometimes when we read God’s word, hear teaching, or seek His guidance we think we “get it” right away when there is really a need for personal reflection before we can fully process what has been said. Somewhere between our ears and our hearts we may lose focus, fail to see ourselves as stakeholders, or just fill in the blanks with our own agendas.  Perhaps we can take the worship principles in Joel Houston’s The Stand and develop an arms raised, hearts abandoned, in awe, and soul surrendered approach to listening.

Lord, help me to fully receive and process what is said to me.
