Behold!

Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. John 13:35

In the 3rd century Tertullian recorded a remark he heard a  Pagan say about the Christian community, “Behold how they love one another.” “Behold” is an retro way to say, “LOOK! That’s just massively impressive!”  Being right, being smart, being beautiful, being talented, or being successful don’t hold a candle to being loving.

Lord, if I get a “behold” out of anybody, let it be “behold how she loves others.”
