John the Baptist is non-denominational

It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the best man is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at his success. Jn. 3:29

Competition, adding to his own numbers, persuading followers to adopt his particular theological or denominational leanings is irrelevant to John the Baptist in the face of the grace and truth of Christ.  John recognizes he can’t save anybody but only point to Christ and stand beside Him, sharing His joy in the souls He’s redeemed.  Joy is immeasurable. Maybe we should stop counting.

Lord, I am awed by Your joy in us.
