Stop counting before 490

Peter: Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?

Jesus: No, not seven times, but seventy times seven!   Matt 18:21-22

Does that mean that after 490 days or hours or minutes revenge or grudges become permissible? Perhaps His point is that repetition forms habits and forgiving 490 times creates a spiritual muscle memory to a forgiving response? I suspect the desire to default to forgiveness will cause us to lose count long before we get to 490.

Lord, thanks for sharing Your grace with me so that I have the capacity to forgive.
