Rejoice, re-rejoice, re-re-rejoice. It never gets old.

June 4th, 2014 by Maureen

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Phil. 4:4

Rejoice because God loves us. Rejoice because He, Maker, Healer, Redeemer, is our Dad. Rejoice because He sees us, He hears us, and He cares about us. Rejoice because we are precious to Him. If God is the biggest thing there is, His love for us has to be enough to bring confidence and peace into our lives.

Lord, thank You for putting all the small stuff into perspective once again. Rejoicing.

All spiritual politics is local

Who can keep us away from the love of Christ? Can trouble or problems? Can suffering wrong from others or having no food? Can it be because of no clothes or because of danger or war? Rom 8:35

Terrible things happen to people, things that erode faith and plant doubt, things that devastate and distract us. Governments cause pain and suffering to their citizens. Accidents and sickness happen. People deliberately do horrible things to one another. We make self-destructive choices. The Accuser would have us believe God has aimed these at us or that our own hurtful behaviors make us ineligible for His love and comfort. Or that God delights in punishing us when we mess up. Its a power play by His opponent. Christ’s love is not only for us and with us, it is so near it is IN us.

Lord, whatever I am going through let me recognize Your love for me through it.

Vacay, Staycay, Yes-way!

June 2nd, 2014 by Maureen

Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to the desert so we can find a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat. Mark 6:31

Whether its a vacay or a staycay, we all need to carve out some time to get away from the comings and goings of our life routines for some quiet and rest. In fact, the busier we are, the more in demand we are, the more we need a break.

Jesus, let’s go off by ourselves…

The reign of the King

June 1st, 2014 by Maureen

The reign of God does not come with observation; nor shall they say, “it is here;” or “it is there;” for, the reign of God is within you. Luke 17:20-21 (YLT)

What would happen if the reign of the King went beyond our mere observation of  laws and edicts? What would happen if we stopped looking here and there for the Kingdom and settled into the heart of the King? What would happen if our own automatic, unconscious, default attitudes and authentic responses to situations and people reflected our King’s?

High King of Heaven, Heart of my own heart, reign within me.
