In your face, trouble

Rejoice in hope, be patient in trouble, and keep praying…Rom. 12:12

The prayer is usually for God to take the trouble away. The rejoicing usually happens after the trouble is gone. There is nothing wrong with that, but most of us have a few stubborn troubles that we can’t seem to pray away. Whether it looks like it or not, Jesus has already overcome this fallen world and all our particular troubles that come with living in it. Rejoicing in the face of trouble is our spirit’s way of catching up to what Jesus has already accomplished for us.

Lord, help me with these stubborn troubles as I pray. Help me when my patience wears thin. You are my hope and I rejoice in You.
