You can’t be two places at one time

through knowledge of Him who called us by his own glory and virtue [God] has given us his precious and splendid promises so that we can escape the corruption that is in the world caused by sinful desires and become partakers in His divine nature. 2 Peter 1:3b-4

God didn’t merely save us from sin, He saved us for glory. If our attention is on finding and avoiding corruption, we aren’t paying attention to His precious and splendid promises. If our attention is on avoiding our sinful desires, our attention is not on the partaking of His divine nature. (Seriously worth our undivided attention!) Acknowledging the contrasts between where we used to be and where we are now can help us appreciate now, but trying not to be somewhere instead of enjoying being somewhere else puts us nowhere.

Lord, I want You to have my undivided attention. Help me partake instead of avoid.
