Pray and sniff

…they held gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.  Rev. 5:8

Whether this is a metaphor or not, how absolutely astounding that our prayers are presented as God’s incense, a perfume with eternal and infinite qualities. Our half-asleep whispers, our on-going conversations with our Father, our formal and corporate prayers, the joyful anthems we sing on the happiest days of our lives, and our most desperate, doubt-colored cries on the worst – are so valuable to God that he keeps them in golden bowls. We don’t need to fully understand the nature of prayer to believe that our prayers matter to God.

Lord, you are worthy of my trust so I lay before you the hopes and needs of my life.
