Glorious moments

All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Jude 1:25

God doesn’t need our praises to feed ego, fuel power, or establish authority. Those are the things that happen when glory is misappropriated to human beings and when glory is misused by human beings. Our responses to His glory reconciles us to the truth and beauty of His nature that has always been, before any of us were made by Him or aware of Him at all. Christ said in John 17 that He gives us the glory the Father gave to Him. Our awareness of His glory makes us participants in that glory. God didn’t create us just so He could to listen to our incessant requests and apologies, though He is tender to those. This glory is the communion and fellowship for which He created us and redeemed us before humans ever experienced need or needed to repent.

Lord, I simply glorify You and bask in the glory You reflect back into me.

Old and new glory

Our praises do not make God more or less glorious. He doesn’t need us to feed ego, fuel power, or establish authority. Those are what happen when glory is misappropriated to human beings. Our responses to His glory reconciles us to the truth and beauty of His nature that has always been and allows each of us to uniquely participate in it, fulfilling the purpose of His creation.

Lord, glory to You!
